My seventh grader had to write 200 words this week for Bible class, answering the question: Who is Jesus? I liked what he had to say -- even in Papyrus font.
Who is Jesus? There are many ways to answer this. From a historical perspective, he was a man who lived in Judea, now Israel, who lived to about 30, and was then crucified. From a religious point of view, he is the Son of God, the Savior of Mankind, and the one truly perfect man to walk the Earth. From a personal way of looking at it, any Christian could tell you that Jesus is their best friend and personal Messiah. But the question remains. Who is Jesus of Nazareth? All the above answers are true, but a definitive, all-encompassing answer has yet to be presented. That is why I am combining all three explanations into one answer that resolves the question once and for all.
Jesus was a perfect man, the Son of God, who walked the Earth for about thirty years before being crucified for our sins. He then rose from the dead and walked the Earth again for a few months, before ascending into Heaven. He saved all who believe in him, and guides us through the worst of times. That answer, I believe, is the best answer to the question asked, as it combines all ways of looking at the question. -- Sam Barber
